Please keep in mind that fats, oils and grease can cause big problems for your drains. Even liquid forms can solidify and cause blockages once they are in the plumbing.

Businesses that serve food are required to have grease interceptors, as well as operations and maintenance plans for the interceptors. If the interceptors are not emptied and cleaned routinely they will not work properly.

Winter, of course, is the season of storms. Prevention is the best method for avoiding problems when those storms hit. Notify us of storm ditches that have collected debris; storm grates that are covered with leaves or other materials; items stored on roadways or in storm ditches; or of anything you feel might create a problem when stormy weather arrives. Correcting those problems before the deluge hits is always preferable--and usually cheaper--than trying to address them in the middle of a downpour. Public Works appreciates the heads up.
